Washington Statehood Day!
On November 11th, 1889, Washington became the Union’s 42nd state.
Washington, aka the Evergreen State, is known for its lush forests, majestic mountains, and vibrant cities. Washington’s flag displays a green field behind the state seal depicting an image of George Washington.
Here’s a few fun facts:
- Did you know the state of Washington is the largest apple producer in the US, and one of the largest in the world?
- The longest floating bridge in the world is the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge in Seattle, with a length of 7,710 feet.
- In 1969, Skamania County created ordinance 1969-01, a law that banned people from killing Bigfoot should they ever find it. If they did, it would be considered a felony, and the killer would be charged with five years in prison.
May the spirit of the Evergreen State continue to flourish!
