Product Description

The printed American flag is our lowest-cost nylon flag for outdoor display: the stars and stripes are printed on UV-resistant 200 denier nylon rather than embroidered and sewn, the heading is white poly/cotton duck with two heavy-duty #2 brass grommets, and it is made in the USA. Nine sizes run from 8 IN x 12 IN for a stick or a desk stand up to 5 FT x 8 FT for a commercial pole.

Choose a printed flag for a house bracket, a seasonal display, a bulk order for an event, or a pole where the flag is replaced often. For a flag that will be looked at closely or flown every day for years, our sewn nylon American flag with embroidered stars is the better choice. Both are American-made flags from the same nylon.

Historical Background

Printed flags date to the nineteenth century, when small flags for parades and campaigns were printed on cotton and later on silk. Printing on nylon in the twentieth century made an accurate, weather-resistant American flag available at a cost that put one on every porch and in every classroom. The flag’s design, adopted June 14, 1777 and fixed at 50 stars since 1960, is the same whether printed or sewn, and the Flag Code applies to a printed American flag exactly as it does to any other.

Printed or sewn?

Printed for cost, for bulk, and for flags replaced often. Sewn for a flag that is seen up close, flown daily, or kept for years. The printed flag is accurate and American-made; the sewn flag has embroidered stars and stitched stripes.

Is the design printed on both sides?

It prints through, so the back shows the design in reverse. That is standard for a single-ply printed flag and correct for flying on a pole.

Which size for a house bracket?

3 FT x 5 FT. A 6 FT bracket pole takes 3 FT x 5 FT; some 5 FT poles take 2.5 FT x 4 FT.

Which size for a stick or desk stand?

8 IN x 12 IN or 12 IN x 18 IN. Ask us for a stick or a base to match.

Is it made in the USA?

Yes. Printed and sewn in the United States.
