Product Description

This spinning flagpole with base stands on its own, so it works where there is no wall to hang a bracket: a lawn, a patio, a storefront sidewalk, or a lobby entrance. The 8 FT x 2 IN aluminum pole spins to keep the flag from wrapping when the wind changes, and the heavy-duty cast aluminum base holds it upright.

The set includes a 4 FT x 6 FT nylon US flag, a size that reads well on an 8 FT pole. It is meant for residential and light commercial use, and it is a lower-cost alternative to an in-ground pole for a business that wants the flag out front. Made in the USA.

Spinning Flagpole with Base Features

  • Free-standing cast aluminum base – holds the 8 FT pole upright on a flat surface.
  • 8 FT x 2 IN spinning aluminum pole – turns with the wind so the flag flies free instead of wrapping.
  • 4 FT x 6 FT nylon US flag – sized to the pole, so the flag shows without dragging.
  • No wall or ground mount needed – set it on a porch, patio, sidewalk, or lawn and move it when you need to.
  • Residential and light commercial – for homes, offices, storefronts, and community buildings.
  • Made in the USA – flag and set.

Historical Background

Flag display at homes and small businesses grew with the twentieth century, and with it came the need for poles that did not require digging a footing. Wall brackets answered that for houses with a porch or a column. A base-mounted pole answers it for everywhere else, and adding a spinning section solves the wrapping problem that a fixed pole in a base has just as badly as one on a wall.

The flag itself is the 50-star pattern set on July 4, 1960 after Hawaii became a state. The rules for its display are set out in the United States Flag Code.

  • Pole: 8 FT x 2 IN spinning aluminum
  • Base: heavy-duty cast aluminum

  • Storefronts, restaurants, and offices that want the flag on the sidewalk without an in-ground pole.
  • Lawns, patios, and pool decks where there is no wall for a bracket.
  • Community buildings, churches, and clubs with a covered entrance.
  • Outdoor events and sales lots, since the set moves easily and stores flat.
  • Homes with brick or stone exteriors where mounting a bracket is difficult.
Does the base need to be anchored?

The set is designed to stand on its cast aluminum base on a flat surface. On an exposed site, bring the pole in during storms; an 8 FT pole with a 4 FT x 6 FT flag catches a good deal of wind.

What flag sizes fit the pole?

The set comes with a 4 FT x 6 FT flag, which is the right size for an 8 FT pole. A 3 FT x 5 FT flag also fits.

Is this the same as the Estate and Mansion sets?

No. The Estate and Mansion sets are wall-mounted on a bracket. This set stands in a base.

Can I fly this flag at night?

Yes, if it is lit. The Flag Code calls for the flag to be illuminated when it is displayed after dark.

How do I fly it at half-staff?

Raise the flag briskly to the top of the pole first, then lower it slowly to half-staff. At the end of the day raise it to the top again before lowering it. Half-staff observances are set by presidential or gubernatorial proclamation, and we post the current ones on our site.

What do I do when the flag wears out?

Bring it to us or send it in. We offer flag repair and respectful disposal for flags that have served their time.
