Product Description

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Printed Flag is dye-printed on 200 denier nylon, so every line of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s official emblem reproduces exactly. Most printed flags are finished with a canvas header and brass grommets for an outdoor flagpole; a pole hem is available for indoor and parade display.

  • Mounting:
    • Pole hem: a sewn sleeve along the hoist edge that slides over an indoor or parade pole.
    • Pole hem with fringe: gold rayon fringe on three edges, the traditional ceremonial finish.
    • Grommets: brass rings set into a canvas header, the standard finish for an outdoor flagpole.
  • Single-sided or double-sided: A single-sided flag carries the design on the front only; the back is blank. A double-sided flag shows the design on both sides and is built one of three ways:
    • Double-reverse: one layer of fabric, printed on one side so the dye soaks through and the design shows on the back in reverse. The lightest build.
    • Double-paneled: two panels sewn back to back, so the design reads correctly on both sides. The heaviest build, and it needs the most wind to fly.
    • Single field, double seal: one field with the emblem on the front and a second emblem tacked to the back, so the seal reads correctly from either side without the weight of two panels.
  • Printed construction: Acid dye bonds into the nylon fiber, so the color goes deep and stays bright outdoors. Every printed flag is lock stitched, the stronger interlocking stitch, on the seams and header. For appliqué and embroidery instead of print, see the sewn version of this flag.
  • Size: 3x4 FT, 3x5 FT, 4x6 FT, 5x8 FT, 52x66 IN. For another size, give us the finished width and height you need.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is the federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice that enforces the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States. Its special agents investigate major drug trafficking organizations at home and abroad and work with state, local and foreign partners.

The DEA was created on July 1, 1973, under Reorganization Plan No. 2 of 1973, which President Richard Nixon sent to Congress to put federal drug enforcement under one agency. It brought together the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the Office for Drug Abuse Law Enforcement, the Office of National Narcotics Intelligence and drug agents from the Bureau of Customs. The agency marked its 50th anniversary in 2023.

The flag carries the DEA special agent badge above the agency name. Field divisions and district offices often add their own name on a second line, as on the pictured printed version for the Albany District Office.

Which options can I choose on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Printed Flag?

Single-sided or double-sided; a pole hem, a fringed pole hem or grommets; and 3x4 FT, 3x5 FT, 4x6 FT, 5x8 FT or 52x66 IN. Review them above, then call or request a quote.

How is a double-sided flag made?

Three ways. Double-reverse is one layer of fabric, so the design shows through on the back in reverse; it is the lightest build and flies in the least wind. Double-paneled is two panels sewn back to back, so the design reads correctly on both sides; it is the heaviest. Single field, double seal is one field with a second emblem tacked to the back, so the seal reads correctly from either side at close to single-layer weight.

For a flag seen from both sides indoors, double-paneled or single field double seal reads best. For an outdoor pole, double-reverse flies most easily. Tell us where the flag will hang and we will recommend one.

Should I order the Drug Enforcement Administration flag sewn or printed?

Sewn appliqué and embroidery gives the emblem relief and texture, and it is the traditional choice for a ceremonial flag indoors. Printed reproduces fine seal detail exactly and is the usual choice for an outdoor flagpole. Both are made in the USA. If you are unsure, tell us where the flag will be displayed and we will recommend one.

Can the DEA printed flag be displayed indoors?

Yes. Order it with a pole hem, plain or with fringe, for an indoor or parade pole. For a formal ceremonial flag with appliqué and embroidery, see the DEA sewn flag.

How long does a printed flag last outdoors?

It depends on wind, sun and how often it flies. Acid dye bonds into the nylon fiber, so the color holds up well, and every printed flag is lock stitched for the wind. Tell us where the flag will fly and we will recommend a size and a replacement schedule.

How is the Drug Enforcement Administration flag flown with the American flag?

The American flag takes the position of honor. On separate poles of the same height it flies on its own right, which is the viewer’s left. When two flags share one halyard, the American flag is at the peak and the Drug Enforcement Administration flag flies below it.
