Product Description
This steel indoor flag pole looks like polished wood and takes far more handling. A steel tubing core carries a high-gloss honey pecan vinyl finish with a wood-grain look, the two sections lock together with a precision-machined internal sleeve joint, and an adjustable band near the top holds a cord and tassel at the height you want. It measures 8 FT x 1 1/4 IN, the standard size for a 3 FT x 5 FT fringed flag.
Schools, churches, and organizations that move their flags often choose this pole over oak because steel does not dent, the finish does not chip, and the sleeve joint does not loosen with repeated assembly. It fits the same floor stands and finials as our 1 1/4 IN oak poles. See our hardware and accessories for stands, finials, and cord and tassel sets.

Historical Background
Steel presentation poles came into auditoriums, gymnasiums, and parade formations in the twentieth century as a working alternative to turned hardwood. A wood pole is traditional, but a pole that is assembled and broken down every week, carried on a bus, and stood on a gym floor lives longer in steel. The painted wood-grain finish keeps the traditional look of a steel indoor flag pole in a courtroom or a chapel, where bare metal would look out of place.
Symbolism at a Glance
- Wood-grain finish: the ceremonial tradition of the hardwood pole.
- Steel core: strength and permanence.
