Product Description
This flag and certificate display case holds a folded 3 FT x 5 FT flag in the upper triangle and a certificate, medals, or photographs in the compartment beneath it, behind glass on both. It is built in laminated construction with a cherry finish, has a removable back for loading, and comes with wall-mounting hardware. It is the case for a retirement, a promotion, or a memorial where the flag and the paper that goes with it belong together.
A flag flown over the Capitol comes with a certificate. A retirement flag comes with a certificate of appreciation, and a memorial flag often comes with medals. This case keeps them in one frame. For a flag-only case in the same size, see the Capitol Flag Case, and for burial flag sizes and other styles, our flag display cases.

Historical Background
Pairing the folded flag with the certificate that accompanies it began in military retirement ceremonies, where the flag is presented alongside a certificate signed by the commander, and it spread to law enforcement, fire service, and government retirements. Flags flown over the U.S. Capitol arrive with a certificate from the Architect of the Capitol stating the date and the person honored. A flag and certificate display case keeps the two together, which is why it became the standard retirement gift in agencies across Washington. The customs of folding and presenting the flag are described with the Flag Code.
