Product Description
This American banner with fringe is a small indoor flag for a desk pole, a podium, or a lectern. The 100% nylon banner has a lined pole heading with two Velcro tabs that wrap the pole, and a 2.5 IN golden yellow rayon fringe on the three free edges. It comes in 16 IN x 24 IN and 24 IN x 36 IN.
It is the flag for a small ceremonial setting where a full 3 FT x 5 FT presentation flag would be too large: a conference table, a reception desk, a classroom, or a church lectern. The banner is made in the USA. Poles and stands are sold separately on our hardware and accessories page.

Historical Background
The Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777, with 13 stripes for the original colonies and 13 stars for a new constellation. As states joined the Union the star count grew, and the 50-star pattern in use today was set on July 4, 1960 after Hawaii became a state. The rules for displaying the flag, including half-staff and nighttime display, are set out in the United States Flag Code.
Fringe on the flag is ornament rather than symbol. The Army has used it on its colors since the nineteenth century, and from there it became the standard finish for any flag displayed indoors on a pole. Small fringed banners followed the same convention down to desk and lectern size, where they stand in for the full presentation flag.
