Product Description

The Signature Three Hole Floor Stand is a solid hardwood indoor flag stand with a polished mahogany finish and brass fittings, built to hold one, two, or three 1 1/4 IN flagpoles side by side. It is the stand for a display that needs the American flag flanked by a state flag and a service, agency, or organizational flag in one footprint, without three separate bases crowding a stage or a lobby.

The three sockets are spaced so 3 FT x 5 FT fringed flags hang without overlapping. Use all three, or use one or two and leave the others empty; the stand looks finished either way. Poles, finials, and cord and tassel are sold separately in our hardware and accessories.

Three-Hole Indoor Flag Stand Features

  • Solid hardwood – a heavy wooden base with a deep mahogany polish that matches oak and mahogany poles.
  • Polished brass fittings – brass socket rings on each hole.
  • Three 1 1/4 IN sockets – for one, two, or three poles.
  • One footprint – replaces three separate floor stands on a stage or in a lobby.
  • Indoor use – offices, courtrooms, chambers, stages, and lobbies.

Historical Background

Multi-pole stands came out of the legislative chamber and the courtroom, where the national flag, the state flag, and sometimes a third flag stand together behind the bench or the dais. A single wooden base with several sockets kept the poles in a straight, even line and kept the floor clear. Mahogany and brass followed the furniture of those rooms. The Flag Code places the American flag at its own right in a group of flags on the same level, and a three-hole indoor flag stand makes that arrangement easy to keep.

Which hole does the American flag go in?

The American flag goes at its own right, which is the hole on the viewer’s left as they face the stand. The next flag in precedence goes in the center, and the third on the viewer’s right.

Will it hold 1 IN poles?

The sockets are sized for 1 1/4 IN poles. A 1 IN pole will sit loose. Use our 1 1/4 IN oak poles, or ask us about inserts.

Is it weighted?

The hardwood base is heavy on its own, but three 8 FT poles with fringed flags are top-heavy. Place it against a wall or behind a dais where it will not be bumped.

Can I use only two poles?

Yes. The empty socket is finished with a brass ring and looks intentional.

Does it come with poles?

No. The stand is sold alone. Add three 8 FT x 1 1/4 IN oak poles, an eagle for the American flag, and spears for the others.

How do I care for the mahogany finish?

Dust with a soft cloth and use a furniture polish made for lacquered wood a few times a year. Keep it away from radiators and direct sun, which can fade the finish, and lift it rather than drag it across the floor.
