Product Description
The Classic Eagle is a gold eagle flagpole finial with an 8 1/2 IN wingspan, molded in ABS styrene with a brilliant gold finish, for indoor presentation poles and parade carry. It is the eagle that tops the American flag in most offices, classrooms, and chambers: light enough to sit on an 8 FT pole in a floor stand without making it top-heavy, and finished to read as gilt metal from any distance. A removable ferrule and adapter are included so it fits most indoor poles.
By custom the eagle is reserved for the national colors, so this is the finial for the American flag pole, with a spear or ball on the poles beside it. For a metal eagle for parade use, see our gold aluminum eagle. Poles, stands, and cord and tassel are in our hardware and accessories.

Historical Background
The bald eagle became the national emblem with the Great Seal in 1782, and eagles have topped American flagstaffs since the early republic. Army regulations put the eagle on the staff of the national colors and a spearhead on unit colors, and civilian practice followed: an eagle flagpole finial on the American flag, a spear or ball on the flags beside it. Gilt eagles were once cast in metal; molded and finished styrene brought the same look within reach of every classroom and office.
