The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Created by Congress in 2018, it leads the national effort to understand, manage and reduce risk to the nation's cyber and physical infrastructure. CISA serves as the national coordinator for critical infrastructure security and resilience, working with government and private sector partners across 16 critical infrastructure sectors. Its three congressionally mandated missions are cybersecurity, infrastructure security and emergency communications.
Choose Your Options
Every Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Printed Flag is made to order, so tell us how you want it built. These are the choices.

- Mounting: A pole hem is a sewn sleeve along the hoist edge that slides over an indoor or parade pole. A pole hem with fringe adds gold rayon fringe on three edges, the traditional ceremonial finish. Grommets are brass rings set into a canvas header, the standard finish for an outdoor flagpole.
- Single-sided or double-sided: A single-sided flag carries the design on the front only; the back is blank. A double-sided flag shows the design on both sides and is built one of three ways:
- Double-reverse: one layer of fabric, printed on one side so the dye soaks through and the design shows on the back in reverse. The lightest build.
- Double-paneled: two panels sewn back to back, so the design reads correctly on both sides. The heaviest build, and it needs the most wind to fly.
- Single field, double seal: one field with the emblem on the front and a second emblem tacked to the back, so the seal reads correctly from either side without the weight of two panels.
- Printed construction: Acid dye bonds into the nylon fiber, so the color goes deep and stays bright outdoors. Every printed flag is lock stitched, the stronger interlocking stitch, on the seams and header. For appliqué and embroidery instead of print, see the sewn version of this flag.
- Size: 3x4 FT, 3x5 FT, 4x6 FT, 5x8 FT, 52x66 IN. For another size, give us the finished width and height you need.

Historical Background
CISA grew out of the Department of Homeland Security's National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), which carried out the department's critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity work. Congress passed the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018 (H.R. 3359) to elevate that mission. President Donald J. Trump signed the bill into law on November 16, 2018, as Public Law 115-278. The act redesignated NPPD as CISA, an agency within DHS led by a Director who reports to the Secretary of Homeland Security.
The law organized the new agency into three divisions (Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Security and Emergency Communications), which match its three congressionally mandated missions. Congress later expanded CISA's authorities. Using new authorities from the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, CISA formed the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, a public-private partnership that unites the cyber community in the collective defense of cyberspace. The Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2022, signed in March 2022, directed CISA to develop rules requiring covered critical infrastructure entities to report covered cyber incidents within 72 hours and ransom payments within 24 hours.
CISA's logo sets a stylized eagle beside a central shield, inside a ring that carries the agency's full name. The agency publishes an explanation of the design on its website, tying each element to its relationship with DHS and to its three missions.
