Product Description
The round spear flagpole finial is a heavy, plain spear for a standard indoor or parade pole, cast in a zinc aluminum alloy and plated in brass or chrome. It is the finial to choose when an eagle would be too formal and a plastic spear too light: an 8 IN metal spear with real heft that looks right on a state, agency, or organizational flag beside the American flag. Made in the USA.
Two finishes are offered. Brass matches our brass joints, cord and tassel, and gold Liberty and Commodore stands. Chrome matches our chrome guidon stand and chrome Liberty stand. Both thread onto the standard ferrule on the poles in our hardware and accessories range.

Historical Background
Spear finials trace to the lance heads that carried military standards, and the round spear is the simplest form of that tradition: a tapered point on a round shoulder, with no ornament. It became the working finial for government and institutional flag sets because it suits any flag and fits any pole. Plated metal spears replaced solid brass on most indoor sets in the twentieth century, keeping the weight and look at lower cost.
