Product Description

The brass flagpole joint is the replacement screw joint for a two-piece wooden indoor or parade pole. It is machined from aluminum with a brass finish, one half threads into each pole section, and the two halves screw together to make the pole one piece. Three sizes match our oak poles: 1 IN, 1 1/4 IN, and 1 3/8 IN.

Joints wear out before poles do. A stripped thread or a loose fit at the joint makes a good oak pole wobble, and replacing the flagpole joint is far cheaper than replacing the pole. Match the joint to the pole diameter and to the SKU list below, and see our oak flagpole for the poles these joints fit.

Brass Flagpole Joint Features

  • Aluminum with brass finish – a strong machined joint that matches brass finials and gilt stands.
  • Screw-together design – two threaded halves, one set into each pole section.
  • Three sizes – 1 IN, 1 1/4 IN, and 1 3/8 IN to match each of our oak pole diameters.
  • Direct replacement – fits our oak flagpoles and most other makers’ two-piece wooden poles.
  • Tight, wobble-free fit – when the joint is seated and screwed home, the pole stands straight.

Historical Background

Two-piece flagpoles came with parades and portable ceremonies. A one-piece 8 FT or 9 FT pole will not fit in a car or a closet, so makers cut the pole in two and set a metal screw joint in the ends. Brass was the traditional finish because it matched the eagle, the spear, and the ferrule at the top of the pole. The aluminum flagpole joint with a brass finish keeps that look with a lighter, stronger core.

How do I know which size to order?

Measure the pole diameter at the joint: 1 IN, 1 1/4 IN, or 1 3/8 IN. If you have one of our oak poles, match the SKU in the specifications list.

How is it installed?

Each half has a threaded shank that screws into a drilled hole in the end of the pole section. Drill the hole to the shank size, add wood glue, and screw the shank in. Let it set before assembling the pole.

Will it fit a pole that is not yours?

Usually, if the pole is a standard 1 IN, 1 1/4 IN, or 1 3/8 IN two-piece wooden pole. Measure the old joint and call us if the threads look different.

Is it solid brass?

No. It is aluminum with a brass finish, which is lighter and stronger than a brass casting for this use.

Do you sell a matching ferrule?

Yes. Ask us for the ferrule that matches your pole and finial.
