A sewn flag is appliquéd and embroidered, with satin and fill stitches in thread matched to the fabric. It’s the usual choice for indoor and ceremonial display, most often with a pole hem and fringe. A printed flag is dye-printed on nylon and lock stitched. It’s the usual choice for outdoor flying, most often with grommets.
Sewn flags come in 3x4 FT, 3x5 FT, 4x6 FT and 52x66 IN. Printed flags add 5x8 FT. Both come with a pole hem, a pole hem with fringe, or grommets, single- or double-sided. The Department of Homeland Security and CISA flags are not offered with fringe.
