Product Description
The Virginia state flag with grommets is the outdoor flag of the Commonwealth, printed on UV-resistant 200 denier nylon with the state seal on a deep blue field, finished with a white poly/cotton duck heading and two heavy-duty brass grommets, and made in the USA here in Alexandria. It comes in six sizes, from 12 IN x 18 IN to 6 FT x 10 FT, so it fits everything from a garden stake to a 30 FT commercial pole.
We fly this flag ourselves, and we supply it to state agencies, courthouses, schools, and businesses across the Commonwealth. It flies beneath the American flag on a single pole or beside it on a second pole. For county flags, Virginia city flags, and the flags of the other 49 states, see our state and territory flags.

Historical Background
Virginia’s flag was adopted in 1861 and standardized by the General Assembly in 1930. It bears the obverse of the Great Seal of the Commonwealth, designed in 1776 by a committee that included George Mason and George Wythe: Virtus, the Roman goddess of virtue, dressed as an Amazon, standing over a fallen tyrant whose crown lies beside him, with the motto Sic Semper Tyrannis, Thus Always to Tyrants. The seal and flag are described in the Code of Virginia.
The Virginia state flag is one of the few state flags with a full-color seal on a plain field, and it is among the most recognizable, which is one reason the Commonwealth’s agencies and localities fly it so widely.
